WIACFL Appoints Veteran Journalist as Director of Media

The Women in Agriculture Cooperative Federation Limited (WIACFL) has appointed Alhaji D.U. Ahmed as its new Director of Media.

The appointment was announced on Sunday in Lokoja by the National President of the Federation, Dr. (Mrs.) Esther Audu, during a chat with Ahmed in Lokoja.

Dr. Audu expressed confidence in Ahmed’s ability to handle the responsibilities of the office, describing him as a seasoned journalist with decades of experience in the media industry.

Alhaji Ahmed began his journalism career in 1984 with Radio Nigeria in Ilorin.

He later worked with The Herald and The Courier newspapers. He joined the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in 1992, where he rose through the ranks and retired in 2020 as an Assistant Editor-in-Chief.

He is an alumnus of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, the International Institute of Journalism (IIJ), and the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) Training School, Lagos.
He is the publisher of The Reporters,an online publication.

WIACFL is a national body focused on empowering women through agriculture and cooperative initiatives.

The appointment of Ahmed is seen as a strategic move to enhance the federation’s media visibility and communication strategies.
