Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has reiterated his administration’s unwavering commitment to the welfare and security of members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) serving in the state.

The governor gave the assurance on Wednesday during a brief visit to the NYSC Orientation Camp in Asaya, Ijumu Local Government Area. The visit was disclosed in a statement issued by the Government House Media Team and made available to The Reporters in Lokoja on Thursday.

Governor Ododo stopped by the camp following a courtesy visit to the palace of His Royal Majesty, Oba Rabiu Sule, the Ologidi of Ogidi, after commissioning a new divisional police headquarters in Ekinrin-Adde.

Addressing the corps members, the governor urged them to uphold the core values of the NYSC scheme—unity, discipline, and hard work. He encouraged them to see their service year as a unique opportunity to make meaningful contributions to the development of Kogi State and Nigeria at large.

“You are the future of Nigeria. Take your duties seriously, be patriotic, and leave a lasting impact in your host communities,” he said. “Kogi State is peaceful, and we will continue to support and protect you throughout your stay.”

Governor Ododo also made a cash donation to boost the morale and welfare of the corps members undergoing the three-week orientation programme.

In his response, the Kogi State NYSC Coordinator, Mr. Femi Osungbohun, expressed gratitude to the governor for the surprise visit and his continued support for the scheme in the state.

He described the gesture as timely and uplifting, noting that it reflects the administration’s genuine concern for the wellbeing of Nigerian youths.

Osungbohun assured the governor that corps members would continue to serve with dedication and contribute meaningfully to the development of their places of primary assignment and host communities.
