The Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has applauded the Ekinrin-Adde community for launching a landmark N600 million Infrastructure Development Fund aimed at driving sustainable development in the area.
The Governor gave the commendation on Saturday during the 2025 Ekinrin-Adde Day celebration held in Ijumu Local Government Area. Represented by his Deputy, Comrade Joel Salifu, Governor Ododo described the initiative as a bold and commendable step towards self-reliance and progress.
In a statement issued by the Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor, Mr. Unubi Emmanuel, the Governor said, “I am proud to see the Ekinrin-Adde community taking proactive steps toward improving infrastructure and fostering sustainable development.
This fundraising effort is a testament to the dedication and commitment of the people to positively impact lives.”
He emphasized the importance of infrastructure in community development, describing it as “the backbone of any developing society.”
He assured the community of the state government’s full support for the initiative and called for sustained collective efforts in building stronger and more resilient communities.
Governor Ododo commended the state’s security agencies for recent successes in tackling insecurity, including the arrest of 26 suspected kidnappers and their collaborators.
“We are focused, determined, and committed to making Kogi safe. Our people must be able to sleep peacefully and conduct their businesses without fear,” he stated.
The governor urged residents to support security agencies by reporting suspicious activities and warned criminal elements to steer clear of the state.
“This government is waging an all-out war against crime. Kogi is not and will never be.a safe haven for criminals,” he assured.
Earlier in his remarks, the Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Mr. Babajide Kolade Otitoju, said the event was organized to celebrate the community’s rich cultural heritage, foster unity, and raise funds for essential infrastructure projects.
He highlighted the Ekinrin-Adde community’s ongoing contributions to peace and development within the Okunland and Kogi State at large.
Our correspondent reports that the event drew a distinguished gathering of dignitaries, including Senator Sunday Karimi, representing Kogi West; Rt. Hon. James Abiodun Faleke, Member representing Ikeja Federal Constituency and Hon. Usman Bello Kumo, Chief Whip of the House of Representatives.
Others are several members of the National Assembly; Dr. (Mrs.) Folashade Arike Ayoade, Secretary to the Government of Kogi State,State Assembly members; Commissioners; and other top government officials.
The celebration showcased the vibrant cultural traditions of Ekinrin-Adde and marked a major milestone in community-driven development.
