The Kogi Unity Movement (KUM) has constituted a three-member interim executive council to steer the affairs of the organization pending the election of a substantive executive committee.

The decision was reached during a meeting of the movement held in Lokoja on Tuesday, following the voluntary resignation of the pioneer executive led by Alhaji Yesufu Omuya Ahmadu.

The newly appointed interim council comprises Alhaji Sanni O. Musa as chairman, with Mrs. Esther Ambolu and Mr. Akoh Emmanuel serving as members.

In a keynote address, the initiator of KUM, Alhaji Abdullahi Ubeida, charged the interim leadership to justify the trust reposed in them by demonstrating transparency, commitment, and unity of purpose.

He emphasized the urgent need for the movement to elect a substantive executive, redraft its constitution, and make other critical structural adjustments to reposition KUM for optimal impact.

Ubeida called on members to rise above sentiments and divisive tendencies that could undermine the principles and vision of the organization.

“KUM is blessed with men and women of integrity and vision. If we come together and harness our collective strength, we can transform the social and economic lives of our people,” he stated.

In his acceptance remarks, the interim chairman, Alhaji Sanni O. Musa, pledged to work diligently with other members to reposition the movement.

“We will not betray the confidence placed in us. This marks a new chapter for the movement, and we will ensure it progresses positively,” he said.

Also speaking, the former chairman, Alhaji Yesufu Omuya Ahmadu, expressed gratitude to members for their support during his tenure.

He pledged full cooperation with the interim council to ensure continuity and the realization of the movement’s objectives.

“It was an honour to serve. I am committed to supporting the new leadership to move KUM forward,” he said.

The Kogi Unity Movement is a group aimed at fostering unity, supporting and promoting the social and economic life of its members, through collective action and civic engagement.
