Evangelist Lydia Idoko, widow of the late Chief Judge of Benue State, Justice Alhasan Idoko, has urged Nigerian leaders to govern with compassion and integrity amid the country’s ongoing socio-economic challenges.
Speaking at a two-day national prayer conference in Makurdi, Benue State,on Monday ,Evangelist Idoko, who is President of the Faith Women Fellowship Ministry International, emphasized the critical role of women in Nigeria’s spiritual and national renewal. The event marked the 39th anniversary of the ministry.
“Women of faith are stepping forward as spiritual anchors, championing national healing through consistent prayer and advocacy for ethical leadership,” she said.
Themed “Prayer, a Lifeline,” the conference brought together women from across the country, united in their mission to intercede for Nigeria.
“We believe the spiritual tide is turning. The prayers offered over the years are not in vain. God is already intervening, and soon, we will witness tangible signs of His presence in our land,” Evangelist Idoko declared.
She urged leaders to see power as a sacred trust, not a personal possession.
“Power is a privilege,” she said. “Leaders must walk in the shoes of everyday people and make decisions guided by empathy and justice. True leadership is rooted in love.”
Reflecting on nearly four decades of ministry, she described the journey as a testament to God’s faithfulness and the enduring power of intercession—especially from women who have long been the spiritual backbone of the nation.
“This anniversary is more than a celebration. It is a recommitment to our divine calling. Women are central to the intercessory mission, and our role in shaping Nigeria’s future cannot be overstated,” she added.
