In a strategic move aimed at accelerating industrialization and enhancing access to finance for businesses, Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has commissioned the state’s branch of the Bank of Industry (BOI) at the Kogi State Investment House, No. 17, Ado Ibrahim Road, GRA, Lokoja.
The governor described the launch as a defining step toward repositioning Kogi as an emerging hub of economic activity in Nigeria.
“This commissioning is not just about a new office space,it represents our collective aspiration to become the economic nerve center of the nation,” Governor Ododo stated at the inauguration ceremony.
He welcomed the BOI’s entry into the state as a strong vote of confidence in the state’s investment climate, adding that with the Bank’s partnership, the state’s economic transformation agenda has gained greater momentum.
Governor Ododo also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his unwavering support toward Kogi’s economic development, assuring BOI leadership that the state government would ensure a supportive and secure operational environment.
Speaking at the event, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Bank of Industry, Dr. Olasupo Olusi, emphasized that the new office would significantly expand BOI’s ability to support local enterprises.
He said the bank would focus on empowering small and medium enterprises (SMEs), large manufacturers, cooperatives, women-led businesses, and youth-driven ventures.
“This new presence will make it easier for entrepreneurs in Kogi State to access tailored financial products and services that drive industrial growth, job creation, and inclusive development,” Dr. Olusi noted.
The establishment of the BOI office is expected to serve as a catalyst for increased industrial activities in the state, stimulating local production, reducing unemployment, and boosting internally generated revenue (IGR).
Economic analysts see the move as a strategic enabler for diversifying Kogi’s economy away from over-dependence on federal allocations.
With this development, Kogi joins the ranks of states with direct access to BOI’s suite of development finance services—positioning it for stronger private sector growth and improved ease of doing business.
