In a bid to promote peace and security across Kogi State, the Executive Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, held a strategic meeting with members of the Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI) and the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) at the Government House Conference Hall in Lokoja. This engagement reflects the administration’s ongoing commitment to fostering unity and collaboration among the state’s religious communities.

The meeting aimed to bolster interfaith dialogue and build on the existing cooperation between the state government and religious organizations.

In his address, Governor Ododo expressed gratitude to both religious bodies for their unwavering support during the election period. He emphasized that the support extended to him was not just political but spiritual.

“Let me begin by expressing my sincere appreciation to all of you for your unwavering support, not only during the last election but from the very beginning of our journey.

“You believed in me when I presented myself as a servant of the people. You stood with me in faith and prayer, and with the hope that I would serve with integrity, humility, and the fear of God Almighty. Your support was not political but spiritual,” he stated.

The governor also cautioned against actions that could disrupt the peace of the state. He advised local government chairmen to be vigilant and refrain from allocating land to individuals of questionable character.

The Chairman of the JNI Kogi State Chapter, Ambassador Usman Bello, and the Chairman of CAN, Special Apostle Adegboye Emmanuel, expressed their gratitude to the governor for the opportunity to dialogue with him.

They also congratulated him on his recent Supreme Court victory, describing it as well-deserved.

Both religious leaders commended the governor for his achievements across various sectors of the state’s economy and for ensuring the prompt payment of workers’ salaries.

The highlight of the meeting was the symbolic presentation of the Holy Bible and the Glorious Qur’an to Governor Ododo, signifying unity, peace, and the spiritual backing of the state’s religious communities.

By engaging with JNI and CAN, Governor Ododo’s administration reaffirms its dedication to inclusive governance, peacebuilding, and strategic partnerships for the progress and security of Kogi State.
