The First Lady of Kogi State, Hajia Sefinat Usman Ododo, has distributed cash and essential items to women’s groups in Kogi East, reinforcing her commitment to easing economic hardship and strengthening grassroots support for the All Progressives Congress (APC).

LAccording to the MEDIA TEAM of the Government House,Lokoja, in a message sent to The Reporters on Friday, the outreach, held at Ejule in Ofu Local Government Area of the state, brought together Vice Chairpersons, wives of council chairmen, divisional women leaders, and various women associations from across the zone.

The Wife of the Deputy Governor, Deaconess Margaret Eleojo Salifu, represented the First Lady at the occasion.

Items distributed included cash, foodstuffs, and clothing, with the First Lady describing the initiative as the first of its kind in the zone. She noted that it was intended to complement Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s broader efforts to support vulnerable groups and inspire continued political loyalty. She urged the women to share the achievements of the administration with their communities.

The Deputy Governor Joel Salifu, in his remarks, praised the First Lady’s gesture and expressed gratitude to former Governor Yahaya Bello for laying a solid leadership foundation. He described Governor Ododo as worker-friendly and called on the women to expand their organizational presence to ward and unit levels.

The Deputy Governor, who emphasized that the initiative was a palliative, not an empowerment programme, meant to offer immediate relief during challenging times, urged the women to stay committed to the APC to benefit from its developmental agenda.

Also speaking, the Director-General of Kogi State Community Watch and Ancillary Matters, Hon. Muhammed Nasiru Alfa, encouraged the women to remain loyal and supportive, expressing confidence that the current administration would secure a second term.

Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Hajia Rhoda Abdullahi, Vice Chairperson of Dekina Local Government, thanked the First Lady and Governor Ododo for their continued support and assured that the women would remain steadfast in their support for the administration and the APC, especially in future elections.
