The Conference was born out of the judgement delivered by Federal High Court of Nigeria in Lokoja in a matter between His Royal Majesty, Michel Ameh Oboni, Attah Igala and Anthony-General of the Federation on Tuesday the 2nd of June, 2020 where the court granted the claimants relief’s suggesting that Lokoja, Ajaokuta and Kogi LGAs were part of the Attah Igala kingdom thus relinquishing the said LGAs and recognizing them as part of Igala kingdom.
The Traditional Rulers and Stakeholders of the said Local Governments in the Press Conference today has outrightly express their total rejection of the said verdict of the Federal High Court Lokoja stating that they re the rightful owners and custodians of the land purportedly ceded to the claimants by the Federal High Court Lokoja. They further reiterated that the court lack jurisdiction in this matter historically. It is established that the Igala, Ebira and Ebira Koto all moved from kwararafa to Idah before Ebira and Ebira Koto disperses to their current places. If the Ebira’s are not claiming share ownership of Idah even if it is right for them, then it will be a trespass in this 21st century for the Igala’s to claim ownership of Lokoja, Ajaokuta and KotonKarfe
In line with the statement of the Governor, Ohinoyi of Ebiraland, Ohimege of KotoonKarfe, Maigari of Lokoja, Ohi of Eganyi and other Traditional Rulers of the said land, the citizens of the land were called to be calm as legal action shall be taken with respect for rule of law and Judicial proceedings to raclaim our land.
