NIS boss Reaffirms Commitment to Strengthening E-Border Security, Migration Management.

The Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Kemi Nandap, has reaffirmed her commitment to enhancing e-border security and improving migration management across Nigeria.

This is contained in a statement issued by the Service’s Public Relations Officer, Kenneth Udo, on Saturday in Abuja and The Reporters got a copy.

Nandap, during a border assessment tour in Lagos and Ogun states in Southwest Nigeria, stressed the importance of collective responsibility in securing Nigeria’s extensive borders.

She also underscored the need to streamline migration management as part of ongoing efforts to modernize border security infrastructure.

Engaging with key stakeholders such as the Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Babatunde Akiolu, and Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Nandap stressed the significance of synergy among various entities in the fight against trans-border crimes.

She further updated NIS officers on new immigration initiatives at Seme Border, Idiroko, and the Lagos and Ogun State Commands.

Nandap reassured officers of her dedication to their welfare and professional development, urging them to maintain a high level of professionalism in their duties.

The NIS boss emphasized the vital role of border communities in supporting security efforts and emphasized the NIS’s commitment to implementing digital strategies to enhance border governance and national security.

Our correspondent gathered that NIS boss had discussions with Lagos State leadership which focused on facilitating NIS operations, with Governor Sanwo-Olu pledging support for the Service’s initiatives.

A joint security meeting with other agencies was also held to enhance collaboration on intelligence gathering and sharing.

Nandap’s tour ended in Ogun State, where she met with traditional rulers, including the Alake of Egbaland, HRM Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo III, and the Olowu of Owu Kingdom, HRM Oba Prof. Saka Adeola Matemilola.

She also held discussions with Ogun State Deputy Governor, Noimot Salako-Oyedele, who represented Governor Dapo Abiodun, concerning logistical support and land allocation for the construction of barracks for NIS personnel.
