The immediate past Governor of Kogi State, HE Alhaji Yahaya Bello, received the news of the sudden demise of Distinguished Senator Jonathan Silas Zwingina with great shock.

Ohiare Michael,
Director, Yahaya Bello Media Office, disclosed this in a statement he signed and made a copy available to The Reporters in Lokoja on Friday.

Senator Zwingina, who served as the Chairman of the Yahaya Bello Presidential Campaign Council in the build up to the All Progressives Congress primary election that produced our President, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, was a man of impeccable character.

Former Governor Yahaya Bello said for those who had worked closely with the late Senator, it was easy to tell that he led a life of self-discipline, integrity and exemplary patriotism.

Recall that Senator Zwingina was the Director-General of the MKO Abiola Campaign Organisation during the historic June 12 1993 election.

“As a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria who represented Adamawa South Senatorial District, a former Senate Majority Leader, he was outstanding in his contributions on the floor of the Senate towards the promotion of growth-oriented policies and good governance.

“Senator Zwingina’s contributions to the democratic development of Nigeria from the 80s to this day will remain indelible in the annals of Nigeria’s history.

“Nigeria has lost a rare political and academic gem. I wish his immediate family, the government and people of Adamawa State, and all of us who cherished his sacrifices for this nation, the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss. May his soul rest in perfect peace,” the former Governor said.
