The management of Daratola Supportive Foundation has concluded arrangements to celebrate the 2025 International Day of Persons With Disabilities (IDPD), slated for Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. in Lokoja.

Globally observed every December 3, the IDPD highlights the rights, welfare, and inclusion of persons with disabilities. This year’s event in Lokoja will hold at the Daratola Children’s Home, located behind the former AEDC Regional Office on Tunde Ogbeha Road, GRA, Lokoja.

The Kogi State First Lady, Hajia Sefinat Ododo, will serve as the Special Guest of Honour. She is also expected to receive a Special Merit Award in recognition of her outstanding support for persons with disabilities in the state.

The theme for the 2025 celebration is “Fostering Disability-Inclusive Societies for Advancing Social Progress.” Dr. (Mrs.) P. F. Medupin will deliver the lead presentation.

According to a statement signed by Mrs. Olaleye Toyin, Executive Director of the Daratola Supportive Foundation, the celebration aims to deepen public awareness on the need for continuous support and inclusion of Persons With Disabilities (PWDs).

The 2025 International Day of Persons With Disabilities is jointly organised by the Daratola Supportive Foundation in collaboration with the Office of the First Lady; the Office of the Deputy Speaker, Kogi State House of Assembly; the Ministry of Women Affairs; Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja; and the Kogi State Community and Social Development Agency (KGCSDA).

Highlights of the event will include a facilities inspection by invited guests and goodwill messages from notable personalities, including Prof. Salisu Usman Ogbo, Rector of Kogi State Polytechnic, and Mallam Momoh Dauda, General Manager, KGCSDA, among others.
