Police in Kogi State recovered N139,000 from armed robbers following an incident in Lokoja. The victim, Abu, a road safety officer, was attacked on Friday while returning from a bank to his home in Zango, Lokoja. The robbers, after firing shots at Abu, took an unspecified amount of money from him. The Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP William Ovie Aya, confirmed the incident in Lokoja. He stated that the robbers ambushed Abu as he rode his motorcycle from the bank towards Phase One Lokongoma near the Lokongoma market. During the attack, Abu was shot three times in his legs and shoulder. A distress call received by the command at 1:30 p.m prompted their swift response. Upon arrival at the scene, Abu was found injured and lying in a pool of blood after the robbers had intercepted him in front of Lokongoma market. “He was accosted by armed robbers in an Ash Toyota Camry who blocked him near Lokongoma market and robbed him of an unspecified sum of money,” Aya further revealed.
