Mrs. Miranda Ombugadu, the wife of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Nasarawa State in the 2023 election, has donated food and non food items, including toiletries, to five orphanages in the state to cushion the current economic hardship in state and the country at large.
Ombugadu, who donated the items to the orphanages in Lafia, Akwanga and Karu Local Government Areas of the state on Tuesday, said the gesture was part of her Miranda Cares Foundation’s commitment towards the plight of the vulnerable, especially orphans.
She added that the donation was her way of showing love to the orphans and in keeping with the spirit of the St. Valentine’s season.
Ombugadu, noted that as a mother, she was always passionate about the children, especially the motherless and always cherish sharing her time and token of love with them.
She urged individuals and cooperate organisations to reach out to orphans and vulnerable children in the society, with food and non food items, in view of the current high food inflation in the country.
Our correspondent reports that the orphanages visited by Mrs. Ombugadu include; Gidan- Bege, Habo, and Nasarawa Children’s home, all in Lafia.
Others are; Gata Orphanage in Akwanga, Akwanga Local Government Areas as well as Nana Berry in Ado, Karu Local Government Area of the state.
She was also at the paediatrics and labour wards of Our Lady of Apostles, hospital, Akwanga, where she donated cash, beverages, diapers and other gift items to newborn and children on admission.
Some of the items donated include yam, rice, beans, vegetable and palm oil, noodles, beverages and toiletries.
Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mrs Aisha Kwalme, Founder, Nana Berry Orphanage, Karu and Pastor Theophilus Liman, Coordinator, Gidan- Bege orphanage in Lafia, appreciated Mrs Ombugadu for the gift and show of love to the children.
They said that the donation of the food and non food items would go a long way to cater for the needs of the children given the increasing cost of commodities in the market.
They called on other well spirited Nigerians to emulate Mrs. Ombugadu’gesture by reaching out to the vulnerable group for the good of the society.
