The Deputy Speaker, Kogi State House of Assembly, Mrs. Comfort Egwuaba,has urged members of the Kogi Women Constituency Lead Movement to keep the the vision and mission of their various Organisations, to enable them achieve their aims and objectives.
Mrs Egwuaba,who gave the advice at a get together organized by the body in Lokoja, commended the leadership of the organisation for the efforts in fighting for the cause of Kogi women and children by standing firm through all challenges.
The Deputy Speaker, who assured that the voices of Kogi women would be captured in the next political dispensation in the state, stressed that they would be carried along in the scheme of things like their male counterparts in various sectors to move the state and the country forward.
Our correspondent reports that Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo of APC,who is the the governor-elect for the state, will be sworn-in on January 27,2024 in Lokoja.
He will take over the leadership of the state from ALhaji Yahay Ado Bello, the two-term governor of the state.
Ms.Egwuaba,who called for collaboration of the Movement to enable it achieve its set aims and objectives, prayed for God’s favour in all aspects of life.
Earlier, the Coordinator of Movement, Ms.Eunice Agbogun, said the coming together of various heads of Organisations to form the Movement, was to strategize for a new plan to achieve in response to issues affecting women in the state.
She congratulated the First Female Deputy Speaker in the state, stressing that her emergence in the ninth Assembly was a positive testament to various struggles and advocacy on promoting women’s participation, inclusion in politics and governance.
Ms. Agbogun explained that as a movement of various groups in the state, the body looked forward to engaging with the deputy speaker to work together in order to create more opportunities and enabling environment for Kogi women to strive in governance and other sectors.
