NECO boosts operation with 70 vehicles.

The Minister of education, Prof. Tahir Mamman, has commended the Registrar/Chief Executive of NECO for the landmark achievements.
He,however, encouraged him to consider procuring boats to enable staff on examination duty go about their duties across riverine communities in Bayelsa, Niger, Rivers, Benue, Kebbi and other states, especially during rainy season, unhindered.
The Minister spoke at the commissioning of 70 examination logistics vehicles, NECO drivers’ Pool, Senior Secondary classroom block, Data centre and NECO scanning centre in Minna, Niger state capital on Friday.
The Minister, who spoke through the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Andrew, said the giant strides had earned NECO national and international accolades.
The Registrar had earlier in his address of welcome said the construction and equipping of the drivers’ pool underscored his determination to professionalize logistics services and investment in human capital.
The NECO boss said he had two and half years in office to reposition the examination body with a view to making it more responsive to meeting global standards.
Wushishi said his achievements among others within the period under review was the establishment and implementation of robust retirement benefit package and an insurance policy for every NECO staff.
Our correspondent reports that the commissioning was followed by maiden award ceremony where some staff who distinguished themselves in their places of primary assignment were rewarded for being good ambassadors of NECO.
The Reporters gathered that journalists were however not allowed to interview or to clarify from the Registrar, the financial cost of the projects commissioned.
