The two Covid 19 patients now receiving treatment responding well and in good spirit, according to the Commissioner for Health, Dr Raji Razaq.
Razak made the disclosure during the meeting he held with stakeholders on Covid 19, including the Ministry of Health, the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) and the Kwara Dtate Technical Committee on Covid 19.
He explained that a three-man team, consisting of himself, Prof. Wale Suleiman, the Special Adviser on Health to the Governor and Dr Femi Oladiji,a medical expert had visited the patients in the Isolation Centre at the Sobi Specialist Hospital.
He said that the patients initially expressed displeasure, but later showed happiness over his visit.
Razak also disclosed that the patients were going through Psychotherapy while the medication of a patient with underlining condition was changed accordingly.
He also said all the necessary needs of the patients had been met by the state government, adding that as at the time of his visit, DSTV satellite cable was being installed to for the comfort the patients.
The Commissioner commended the Governor for all the efforts put in place to check the spread of the pandemic disease in the state.
Speaking also at the meeting, Mr Kayode Alabi, the Kwara State Deputy Governor, commended the stakeholders at the meeting for their efforts on Covid 19 in the state.
He warned that the danger of the diseases could not be over emphasised, adding that it was why the state government ordered total shut down for effective contact tracing.
Speaking earlier, Dr Shuaib Belgore,who led NCDC team from Abuja, advised that the committee should meet at least, twice daily for strategic planning and evaluation.
He added that increased meeting would also boost aimed at attaining the desired success in the implementation of strategy on disease surveillance, contact tracing, and data management among others.
He told the committee that sometimes, people of showing symptoms of Coronavrus and were not willing to submit themselves for examination could be taken by force as part of the strategy to prevent the spread of the disease.
He said this became necessary because that Kwara state had international border with other country and an international airport and as such, more people visit or transiting the state.
Belgore also noted that security operatives in the state as well as across the country must factor everybody at the entry and exit in order to prevent the Covid 19 spread.
