Niger: Missing baby found unhurt,re-united with family–Police

six months-old baby boy, Chinedu Samson, allegedly taken away by a yet to be identified person from the mother’s shop at Kure Market, Minna,Niger state,north central Nigeria,has been found alive and re-united with his family.

The Police Public Relations Officer,PPRO, for the Police Command in the state, DSP W. A ABIODUN, disclosed this in a statement a copy of which is made available to The Reporters on Thursday.

According to Abiodun,the boy was found abandoned at an erosion ditch, close to Gauraka primary school at Gauraka area of Tafa LGA on Wednesday at about 1230hrs, due to a sustained pressure and close monitoring.

He said:”The baby was taken to a nearby hospital for medical examination and confirmed to be in good health. He has been reunited with the family.

“However, effort is ongoing to apprehend the fleeing perpetrator of the crime to face the wrath of the law.

“Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Niger State Command CP Ogundele J. Ayodeji, psc(+) appreciates the concern of all Nigerlites and residents for their efforts in achieving this feast.

“He, therefore, enjoins parents and guardians to be more careful and be security conscious, most especially avoid entrusting their children to strangers.”

Giving insight as to how Samson was found,Abiodun said that the case of abduction in nature which was immediately transferred to SCID Minna,adding that Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the Command swung into action and commenced investigation with the aid of technical intelligence,leading to recovery of the boy.
