Ghanaians have been absorbed of water bills for three months as the world battles COVID-19 pandemic without end in sight.
Duaglobalnews gathered that this is part measures taken to combat the novel Coronavirus pandemic,while the exercise will last from April, May to June.
The Ghanaian President,Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, disclosed this in his fifth address to the nation.
He instructed that all water tankers [publicly and privately owned] be mobilised to ensure constant water supply to all vulnerable communities in that country.
He noted that: “The Ghana Water Company Ltd and the Electricity Company of Ghana had been directed to ensure the stable supply of water and electricity during this period.
“In addition, there will be no disconnection of supply.”
Akufo-Addo said that his government would determine whether or not to extend the lockdown imposed on parts of the country next week.”
He said the decision would largely be based on the results of the over 19,000 tests that had been conducted, due to the enhanced contact tracing.
“The decision of government on the matter will be driven by science and available data, “the president added.
Akufo-Addo noted that 15,385 out of 19,276 contact persons had been reached through the enhanced contact tracing, adding that their samples hadbeen taken, stressing,“this will determine our future terms of action.”
