Rano Local Government Area of Kano State, a married woman named Malama Khadija has dissolved her own marriage and married her daughter’s boyfriend.
The incident occurred after her daughter, Aisha, rejected the suitor. However, in their reaction, the woman’s relatives have accused the Hisbah Commandant of Rano LGA of marrying off their daughter without their consent and not even knowing her whereabouts.
But speaking to a local radio station, Malama Khadija said she was living happily with her new husband and that her marriage was not prohibited in Islam.
She explained that after realizing that her daughter had decided not to marry her former boyfriend, she felt that they both should not lose him.
Khadija stated that she contacted the new husband’s family for the right thing to be done and that she was as beautiful as her daughter.
However, Khadija’s uncle, Abdullahi Musa Rano, said they refused to allow her to marry the man because she deliberately dissolved her first marriage in order to marry her daughter’s suitor who was not qualified to be her husband.
He stated that they cannot do this shameful thing in their family and that they want the general commandant and the state government to look into the matter.
When contacted, the Hisbah Commandant in Rano, Ustaz Nura Rano, said only the state command of the board had the right to speak on the issue.
However, when contacted, the state’s Hisbah commanders General, Sheikh Harun Ibn-Sina, said an investigation into the matter is still ongoing.
This incident raises ethical and moral questions about the actions of the woman and the role of the Hisbah Commandant in facilitating the marriage.
It also highlights the potential for cultural and familial conflicts in such situations.
The investigation by the state command of the board will likely provide more information and context about the events that led to this marriage and the parties involved.
