Thousands of members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi State, on Thursday, staged a mega walk to express their support for the party’s presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu at a mega rally held in Lokoja, the state capital.
The mega walk was organized by Ramatu Tijjani Aliyu Foundation, (RTA) founded by the FCT Minister of State, Dr Ramatu Tijjani Aliyu.
Addressing members of the party at the Unity House, after a walk through major streets and roads in the Lokoja metropolis, the FCT Minister of State, Dr Ramatu Tijjani Aliyu, who was represented by, the RTA Foundation, Coordinator, Alhaji Muhammed Salisu Aliyu, urged people of the state, especially party faithful, to obtain their Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC),to be eligible to perform their civic duties during the 2023 general elections.
She emphasised that those who were yet to collect their PVCs must do so without delay, explaining that the permanent voters card remained the only instrument that could be used to vote during the election.
“I want to thank you all for coming out in large numbers to show your support for our party’s presidential flag bearer, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and all our party candidates in the state.
” I want to urge those of us who have not collected their voter’s cards to do so because without it, you cannot vote during the general elections next year.
“Please make sure you vote for all our candidates; beginning from Asiwaju Bola Tinubu for president, senatorial candidates, candidates for the House of Representatives and House of Assembly”, the Minister said.
Dr Aliyu noted that the large turnout was a testimony that the party enjoys wider acceptability across the state
She described the APC presidential candidate and his deputy as the best candidates that would turn the nation around for the benefit of all Nigerians.
“As we know, our great leader, President Muhammadu Buhari has laid the right foundation for progressive governance.
” He has been responsive, progressive, and totally committed to the needs of the people, especially women and children.”
The Minister stated that as Kogites, there was a strong need for them to use the 2023 elections to vote for APC across all levels, for consolidation and continuity of the remarkable work and achievement of the present administration, arguing that it was crystal clear that the continuity of the APC government was the sure way to greater progress.
“At this point in time, in our democratic experience and history, Nigeria needs the financial expertise, intellectual acumen, progressive capacity, and political sagacity of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to manage the affairs of our great country.
“Asiwaju has a track record of outstanding performance. He has the astonishing ability to identify talents and galvanize them to catapult our nation to the deserved height and rightful position in the comity of nations. He has done it in Lagos and he will do it in Nigeria.
Speaking during the walk, the APC House of Representatives candidate for Lokoja/Kogi Federal Constituency, Hon Danladi Sulaiman Aguye, noted that this is a demonstration of their unalloyed support for the Asiwaju presidency come 2023.
“What we are doing today is on behalf of our leader, Dr Ramatu Tijjani Aliyu, who ensures the success of this gathering today.
“We are going to work for the success of Asiwaju/Shettima. This is our project, they are saleable candidates. They are already President and Vice President in waiting.
He assured that the RTA had set up structures in all the wards in Kogi State to deliver overwhelming votes for the APC presidential candidate in the February 2023 presidential election.
Speaking also, the APC House of Assembly candidate for Lokoja 11, Hon. Umar Aliyu aka Assignment, said Tinubu had done credibly well in terms of policy implementation, adding that that his ability to build character and individuals could not be overemphasized.
He said,“As a support group, our aim is to promote the candidacy of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to emerge the next democratically elected President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).”
He expressed optimism that with his track record, Tinubu will emerge victorious in the general elections.
Our Correspondent report that the rally, which started from Paparanda Square, moved through Post Office up to Murtala Muhammed Way to the Government House and ended at the Unity House, along GRA, Lokoja.
