Foundation beckons on Prof. Ocheni to join Kogi governorship race

The Bliss Foundation, which dwells in public awareness creation, promotion of desired governance at all levels and support to the needy among others, has called on Prof. Stephen Ikani Ocheni to contest 2023 Kogi State Governorship Election.

The Chief Executive Officer/Founder of the organization, Dr. Eneojo Kennie Eneojo, made the call on Wednesday during a Press conference at the NUJ Press Centre, Lokoja.

He said that Foundation’s clarion on the professor to contest the number one political office of the state was base on his high repute and integrity to provide the much needed quality leadership for the state.

According to him, never in the political history of the state has there been such a clamour from across all divides: political, religious and ethnic, for an individual to step into leadership position.

Eneojo said:” This appeal has become inevitable because of the enormous and extraordinary intellectual leadership qualities and capacity of Professor Stephen Ikani Ocheni over the years.

“Professor Stephen IkaniOcheni is a competent academic scholar and has distinguished himself as a public servant in different capacities,such as Permanent Secretary, Governnent House Administration under late Prince Abubakar Audu from 1999 to 2003.

“We at The Foundation has the belief the belief, understanding, confidence and hope that with the right candidate in the coming electíon in kogi state, some of the ills that have retarded the accelerated growth and development in many critical sectors will be addressed.

He described the professor as a man of “undiluted love, humility, generosity and value for human development and expressed optimism Ocheni’s leadership would impact positively on education, commerce, infrastructural development and peaceful co-existence.

Eneojo stressed that leadership, globally,was no longer an all-comers game but an intellectual enterprise where only people with innovative and creative ideas,vision, competence are expected to provide solutions to challenges.

“That is what Professor Stephen Ocheni symbolizes and demonstrated in his career to date,” he added.

Our Correspondent recalls that Professor Ocheni was one time Minister of State for Labour and Employment among other political appointments to his credit.

Professor Ocheni, the Omachi Attah- Igala and an expert in public sector accounting and s former Minister of State, Labour and Employment,is the current Chairman, Governing Council, Federal Polytechnic, Auchi,Edo State.
