Most fuel dealers in Lokoja, kogi state capital have continued to defy the federal government order on the pump price of fuel as they sell the pump price of the product between N190 and N200 per litre as against the official price of N165 per litre.
Our Correspondent who visited some filling stations in the state capital on Tuesday reports that only Total station on Ganaja road,and NNPC filling station on Felele High way all in Lokoja sold fuel at the official pump price.
Some of the dealers of the product, who spoke with The Reporters on the issue, said with the current economic reality of the nation, coupled with the unfavorable international economic development concerning fuel production, it became very difficult for them to continue selling fuel at N165 per litre.
Our Correspondent reports that the the long queue of vehicle which became prominent in most filling stations in the area has continued to disappear.
However, motorists have adopted the method of queuing at the filling stations that sell the product without much increase beyond the approved pump price.
Meanwhile, operators of transport business in Lokoja have continued to increase their inter and intra fare, while commuters within Lokoja now trek trips that do not cover far distance to avoid been caught up by the astronomical rise in transport fare.
