Bokoharam, banditry continue in Niger, over 30 abducted

Bokoharam members and bandits have continued their onslaught on the people of Niger state abducting over 30 persons in such latest crime against humanity.

Our Correspondent reports that the henious crime unabated, despite the claim,by the state government that it has been brought under control.

Sources told Journalists in Minna on Wednesday that armed men abducted the victims on Tuesday at Garin-gabas, Rafi Local Government Area of the state while traveling on an 18-seater bus on Zungeru-Garin-gabas highway.

The armed men, in large number, were said to have intercepted other two vehicles on the same highway by shooting into the air to before marching their victims into the nearby bushes.

The armed men, according to one of the villagers,who wants his identity covered, said the armed to men, in a commando manner, roundedup their victims and disappeared into Kundu forest in Rafi Local Government Area,even, just as they were said to have also rustled some cattle along same vicinity.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), for the Police Command in the state,Niger,DSP Wasiu A. Abiodun, could not confirm the story when approached on the issue. He promised to get back to our correspondent but failed to do as at the time of this report.
