A 64-year-old man, Ayotunde Taiwo,has been nabbed, by the police, in Ogun state for allegedly defiling a two-year-old girl, according to the Police Command in the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer PPRO for the Police Command in the state, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, who confirmed the story in Abeokuta on Wednesday.
Oyeyemi said the Commissioner of Police, Edward Awolowo Ajogun, had ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to the Family Support Unit at the Ota Area Command for further investigation and prosecution.
He said yhe suspect was arrested following a complaint lodged at the Agbado divisional headquarters by the mother of the victim.
The police image maker in the state added that the mother of the vicyim reported the case at the police station,that at about 11a.m she noticed that her daughter could not walk well, and that when she inspected her body, she saw traces of blood in her private part.
The mother, according to the PPRO,,when she enquired from her daughter about what happened to her, the little girl pointed to the house opposite their own house where the suspect lived.
He the suspect was seen washing his blood-stained boxer shot, indicating possible unlawful carnal knowledge of the little girl.
The PPRO,who said the Divisional Police Officer,(DPO), Agbado division, CSP Kehinde Kuranga thereafter detailed detectives to the scene where the suspect was arrested,added that the victim had been taken to hospital for medical treatment.
Google qouted UNICEF as having reported that in 2015, one in four girls and one in 10 boys in Nigeria had experienced sexual violence before the age of 18.
It also cited a survey executed by Positive Action for Treatment Access,as saying 6 over 31.4 percent of girls said that their first sexual encounter had been rape or forced sex of some kind.
