CCB urges new kogi political office holders to declare assets

The Code of Code Bureau(CCB) has stressed the need for the newly appointed political office holders in kogi state to declare their assets on assumption of office and at the exit of office.

The State Director of CCB, Mr Innocent Ajilima, said this in a statement he signed in Lokoja on Tuesday available to Duaglobalnews.

“Based on the above, the State Director, Mr Innocent Ajilima, has requested all concerned officers to pick (ADF) forms, fill them properly and submit same to the state Director, Code of Conduct Bureau.

“We will not hesitate to forward cases of non compliance to the Code of Conduct Tribunal for appropriate sanction,” he said.

Wikipedia defines code as a set of rules outlining the norms, rules, and responsibilities of, or proper practices for, an individual.

Part 1, of The fifth schedule in the Nigerian Constitution provides for the code of conduct for public officers.

The schedule stipulstes that public officer shall at the end of four years and at the end of his term in office, submit to the Code of Conduct Bureau, a written declaration of all his properties, assets, and liabilities of those of his unmarried children under 18 years.

Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello, upon taken oath of office administered by the Chief Judge of the state, Justice Nasiru Ajanah on January 27,2020, submitted names of commissioner-nominees to the state House of Assembly for screening and approval.

The House screened, approved the names and they were subsequently sworn by the Governor as commissioners about three weeks ago.
