Nasarawa State Chapter of Christan Association of Nigeria (CAN) has elected new officials to pilot its affairs for the next five years.
Announcing the election results,in Lafia on Tuesday, the Chairman of the Electoral Committee Mr Timothy Nasson, said Dr. Sunday Emma polled 95 votes to defeat Samson Jugga who got 36 votes to emerge as the new Chairman of the Association in the state.
The Chairman announced that based on the CAN constitution, Mr Jugga,who got the least vote automatically became the Vice Chairman of the association.
The Chairman also announced other elected officials who include; Alfred Azige,Secretary, Femi Momo, Assistant Secretary while Samson Osuo, a Journalist,a Treasurer.
In his acceptance speech on behalf of other officials, the Chairman- elect, expressed gratitude to the delegates and the entire Christians in the statefor the confidence reposed on him and other exco members and promised not to disappoint them.
He also promised to operate an open door policy where all Christians in the state, irrespective of domination, would be carried along.
Emma said he would work with leaders of other religion in the state to ensure sustainable peace and unity in the interest of the overall development of the state.
He also expressed gratitude to the state government for not interfering in the CAN election, unlike the experience in the past.
