Pensioners in Osun state now have cause to smile as the Governor of the state, Adegboyega Oyetola, has approved over N1.6 billion for the payment of their outstanding pension and gratuities, according to the Head of the State’s Civil Service, Dr. Festus Oyebade in Osogbo, the state capital on Wednesday, in a release.
He Oyebade further disclosed that out of the amount,N l508,000,000 was approved for the payment of retired civil servants under the old pension scheme.
The Head of Service said:“Apart from that, the governor has released additional Four Hundred Million Naira (N 400,000,000) to pay selected retirees under the Contributory Pensions Scheme.
“N 1,000,000 was released for the payment of gratuities of retired officers under the old pension scheme, bringing the total amount released for retired officers in the State’s service to One Billion and Eight Million Naira Only.”
