By Dada Ahmed in Lokoja
Pst.Ade Bada of Redeem Church, Lokoja, has urged people living with disabilities not to be despair but to come to terms with them with sense of optimism and get closer to God in prayer and move on with life.
The cleric gave the advice during his monthly talk show, entitled “Tomorrow Can Be Better (Daring The Storms of Life)” on Sunday in Lokoja.
“Do not succumb to whatever challenge you have in life, see it as a challenge with a view not only coping with it but use it to affect your neighour positively in order to add value somebody’s life.
Bada said though as a blind man, rather than bemoaning over his fate, he surmoned the courage and wrote a book, there by encouraging people living with disabilities to over come that by engaging in positive endeavour to make life meaningful.
“I do not see my present condition as a challenge in negative sense but a challenge for me to work on and add value to myself and others around me and keep life moving, armed with a sense of hope for a better tomorrow”.
He, however, expressed disgust the disdain manner the society in Nigeria treated people living with disabilities and called for a new leaf from the various strata of the society.
“With the situation of things in Nigeria,we, the people living with disabilities do not need to wait for government to come to our aid, we must realise that there are abilities in disabilities. The opportunities are there for us to exploit for our benefit and others,”he said.
One of the participants at the talk, Pst.Dayo Thomas commended the spirit of courage being displayed by Bada over his sight challenge as well as using his experience and mental ability to add value to the life of even sighted individuals in the society.
The Reporters correspondent recalls that Bada was a journalist and a publisher and an executive member of the Nigeria Union of Journalists ( NUJ), Kogi State Council before his sight problem.
