Kaduna-based Independent Hajj Reporters,  a civil society organisation, comprising journalists that monitor and report Hajj activities in Nigeria and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, has congratulated new board members of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria( NAHCON) on their new appointment. The National Coordinator of the organisation, Alhaji Ibrahim Muhammed and Publicity Decretary, Abubakar Mahmoud made the congratulation in the statement they signed and made available to journalists in Kaduna on Friday. They said, “We congratulate the newly appointed members of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria and urge them to dedicate themselves to the service of pilgrims.”The CSO expressed confidence in the capacity and experiences of the new members of the commission to deliver efficient and effective services to pilgrims as captured in the Act that establishes the commission.

The group also urged the members to see their appointment as a call by Almighty Allah to offer service to His guests– the pilgrims.

“It is a call to serve the guests of Allah. The best way to heed this call is for you to see your primary responsibility as an act of Ibadah.

  2. “Hajj requires more than a will to captain successfully as it entails proactive planning and implementations,” the group said.Muhammed and Mamoud also advised the new hajj commission management to operate an open-door policy.
  3. This the group said was necessary so that those interested in giving advice and suggestions for the improvement of hajj in the country could do so.

The officials pledged the commitment of the organisation toward assisting members to achieve their aims and objectives, through constructive criticism, among others.
