By Saks Ibrahim

Ilorin

The Kwara Sate Polytechnic, Ilorin, says it is ready to host 20th edition of Nigeria Polytechnic Games (NIPOGA) slated for start from February 5 2020 to February, 26,2020.

The tournament is scheduled to accommodate about 51 Polytechnics and Monotechnics of  comprising 3,000 athletes and 1,000 officials.

The Rector of the polytechnic, Engr. Abdul Jimoh Muhammed, made the disclosure when he spoke with Journalists and some traditional leaders around polytechnic communities at the campus of the Institution in Ilorin.

“The facilities to be used for the games have been put in proper shape. It is our hope that the event will foster unity among the participating institutions, encourage discipline and enhance physical fitness.

” It is also expected that it will remove cultural, tribal, religious, racial barriers and other parochial differences among the participants,”he said.

Mohammed, who assumed office November 2019 said that “the games ought to have come up last year December, just a month after my assumption of office.

“I eventually appealed to the National Executive of NIPOGA for postponement to February 2020, for us to have proper arrangements for the successful hosting of the game.”

On security at the event, the Rector confirmed that the school had established partnership with all the security agencies in the state, including Army, to ensure the event go peacefully,

He,however, urged traditional leaders around the polytechnic communities to be friendly to all the visitors coming for the games, reminding them that most of them might be visiting the state for the first time.

The Rector stressed the need for the athletes and officials to have memorable experience about the state and its people.
