Embattled Borno enhances transportation sector with buses

In spite its insecurity in Borno State, the Governor, Prof. Babagana Zulum,on Friday, inaugurated 90 buses with 2,740 passenger-capacity to enhance the activities of Borno Express Corporation owned by the State government.

Our correspondent reports that 40 units of 50 seaters and 50 units of 14 seaters, 70 of the buses were on display while 20 were being branded.

Unveiling the vehicles at the Ramat square ground in Maiduguri at a brief ceremony, Zulum said he embarked on the purchase of the vehicles to fulfill his electioneering campaign, to boost transportation sector in the state.

He said: “In fulfillment of our electioneering campaign, to provide affordable means of transportation, we are here to unveil new buses to ease difficulties faced by the public.”

The governor tasked managers of Borno Express to inculcate a sustainable maintenance strategy to ensure that the vehicles remain functional and to serve the purpose intended.
