Adebukola”Holy Ghost” jailed 6 months for internet crime

An Ilorin based internet fraudster, A 29-year-old,Ademola Adebukola, popularly known as”Holy Ghost” has been convictted on four counts of cheating and attempt to cheat by a Kwara State High Court sitting in Ilorin and sentenced to six months in prison.

Justice Adenike Akinpelu convicted and sentenced the convict to six months imprisonment on each of the counts after Adebukola pleaded guilty to the charges brought against him by the Ilorin Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

The sentences are, however, to run concurrently startingfrom September 14, 2020.

The court also ordered the forfeiture of the convict’s iPhone 5 and Dell Laptop to be forefeited to the Federal Government. being the instrumentalities he used to perpetrate the crime.

According to the prosecution, the convict committed the offence when he acted as Blackmore G. Scott a.k.a Holy Ghost with email address holyghost643@gmail.com with an attempt to cheat one Sherri Reed by fraudulently inducing her to deliver $3,500 to him, under the guise of being in a romantic relationship with her

He also was said to have told his unsuspecting that he was in need of money to clear goods at the Seaport and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 320 of the Penal Code and punishable under Section 322 of the Penal Code.

He was said to have committed another offence by acting as David Frenchman with email address: msccruiseworld@gmail.com and did attempt to cheat when he presented yourself to one Wanda Smith of wsmith1166@yahoo.com as being a Caucasian Male in romantic relationship with her

The court said the convict kny his offence was a rlepresentation of false and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 95 of the Penal Code and punishable under Section 324 of the same Penal Code.
