Over 2,000 police officers promoted in 2020 in Niger–CP

No fewer than 2,219 officers and men of the Nigeria Police,Niger State Command were promoted in 2020, according to Commissioner of Police in the state, Adamu Usman.

The police boss disclosed this while performing the decoration ceremony of the recently promoted 10 Officers/Presentation of Awards to deserving officers at the Police Officers Mess, Minna.

The Commissioner, while congratulating the beneficiaries for the extraordinary feat said,
“The beneficiaries include, one CSP to ACP, 21 SP to CSP, 5 DSP to SP, 4 ASP to DSP, 282 Inspectors to ASPs, 1,120 Sergeants to Inspectors and 521 Corporals to Sergeants while 264 Constables received their new ranks as, Corporals.”

Usman also revealed thathat the promotion of the 10 officers was based on the principle of seniority and merit as well as reflective of their records of discipline and invaluable experiences.

While appealing to the newly promoted officers to put in their best as promotion means more responsibilities, the Commissioner also urged them to apply their wealth of experience in achieving the police mandate of policing, especially in the prevalent security situation.

He told the officers to “be civil to citizens and be guided by the rule of law. In addition, you must demonstrate sound professional judgement in all decisions, knowing that you could be called to account for your actions or inactions.”

Speaking on behalf of the newly promoted officers, ACP Yahaya Isah, now CSP, expressed appreciation to the Police Service Commission for the rewarding its hard working police officers with the promotion.

Our correspondent also reports that during the event about, 29 deserving officers and men who have performed exceptionally well in their places of primary assignment, received different categories of awards.
