The Executive Chairman, Kogi State Security Trust Fund, Abdulmalik Samari Teina, said he had met with the State Security Service to find ways the agency could acquire a drone and trackers to carryout surveillance and ensure real time policing.
He made the disclosure while defending the 2021 budget of the agency at the Assembly in lokoja.
According to Teina, this is part of the plans,by the trust fund to establish logistics base for hunters on roads across the state, soon, to curb the activities of the criminal elements in the state.
He said that the agency was also planning to procure security vehicles and other apparatus for security agencies, in the state, as well as install close circuit cameras on hot spots with a monitoring centre.
Teina, who also told the Assembly that the agency had interface with many organisations to make voluntary contributions to boost its activities of securing life and property in the state.
Our correspondent reports that the state has not been spared of the wave of crime blowing across Nigeria, particularly kidnapping and of recent, ritual killing of a hunch back person among other heinous crimes taking place in the state.
In 2020,the state government in conjunction with the police established two Police Mobile stations to check the tide of crime and criminality in the state, among other measures, our correspondent recalls.
