The Chief Imam of ASCO Camp Central Mosque, Ajaokuta,Kogi state, Alhaji Yahaya Musa Alhassan, has urged an end to killings in many parts of Nigeria with a warning to perpetrators of such crime to retrace their step in order to avert the wrath of almighty Allah.
The cleric made the call on Saturday while preaching at an Islamic wedding ceremony in Ajaokuta.
He said the call became urgent in view of the spate of killings in many parts of the country, especially in the north east region of the country.
” The rate at which human life is taken and in gruesome manner by the perpetrators in the country, is alarming and needs to be checked to avert the anger of the almighty Allah.
“If almighty Allah can stop Prophet Ibrahim from sacrificing his son, as being told in the Holy Quoran, that means He abhors, in totality, the killing of human being.
“Those whose stock in trade it is to take human life as if they are killing animal should retrace their step, seek forgiveness from almighty Allah and get closer to Him, in their own interest and for the peace of Nigeria in general.
“The Federal government needs to redouble effort in checking this frightening trend in our country.
“All humans are from Adam and Eve, and by that, we need to see ourselves as one family and eschew all divisive and devilish tendencies confronting us a country as well as humanity'” he said.
He prayed to almighty Allah to make Ajaokuta steel project a reality that would have lasting benefit on Nigerians and Africa at large.
The chief Imam also prayed for blissful married life for the couple and called on Nigerians and called them to stick to Islam to receive the blessing of almighty Allah in their home.
He also urged Nigerians, irrespective of religious and other inclinations, to intensify prayer for the restoration of peace to the dark spots and for the development of the country.
