Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission (KOSIEC) says it has trained Electoral Officers and their Assistants to ensure “purposeful handling of electoral materials and collation of results” in the December 12 council elections in the state.
Declaring the training session open in Lokoja, the Chairman of KOSIEC, Mamman Nda Eri, called on the officers to aim at “an excellent outing on the day of the election.”
Alhaji Yakubu Musa Chogudo,Commissioner in Charge of Publicity, KOSIEC, disclosed this in a release he signed in Lokoja.
He quoted the Chairman as urging the officers to utilise the opportunity of the training to get all the necessary information they needed for the task ahead, stressing that the success of the election would largely depend on their good performance.
Eri,who promised that the Commission would reward the best performing Electoral Officer on the field, said that the Electoral Officers and their Assistants would in turn train the ad hoc staff to be engaged for the exercise.
The Reporters correspondent gathered that one of the high points at the occasion was a minute silence observed for the late Kabba/Bunnu Electoral Officer, Adeyemi Abel Ibisagba, who died two weeks ago.
