The battle to safe the life of Mr Emmanuel Adeyemi, the kogi state correspondent of the Sun newspaper who was shot during shooting spree in Lokoja on Monday began with the state council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) raising N100,000 for his surgery.
The correspondent of The Reporters, an online publication in Lokoja,gathered from a reliable source that Adeyemi, who was awaiting surgery in a private hospital in Lokoja, needed N300,000 to enable doctors remove the bullet from his back.
The source added that other efforts were being made, else where, to raise the balance to enable doctors carry out the surgery, on time, to avoid further complication might arise from his gunshot injury.
The online media outfit recalls that Adeyemi,whose condition is said to be stable, was shot on his way from to the NUJ Press Centre, along Crowther road,Lokoja.
Meanwhile, normalcy has returned to Lokoja as at the time of this report, after the sporadic shooting at zone 8 section of the state capital in the morning, in connection with issues relating to palliatives.
