Police in Niger arrest 4 suspects for armed robbery,recover N3.85 m

Police Operatives attached to Area Command, Minna, Niger state have arrested one Abdullahi Maikudi (27) of Katsina State and Rabiu Abdullahi (23) of Kano State for suspected armed robbery and theft.

The Police Public Relations Officer PPRO for the Police Command in the state,ASP Wasiu A Abiodun, disclosed this in a statement in Minna on Wednesday.

He said the two suspects were arrested at Fagge, Kano State, adding that N3,850,000:00k and 410 cefas were recovered from them.

The police image maker disclosed that Maikudi lodged in a hotel in Tegina, where he met a business man of the same state origin on 25/09/2020, whom he monitored and established brotherhood with but that unknown to the business man,Maikudi was up to something else.

The PPRONiger said as a result established friendship, the suspect was able to offer his target a cup of tea laden with tramadol which made his victim to sleep off.

“The suspect later entered the man’s room and stole his bag containing about six million naira and fled to Kano state, where he met one Rabiu Abdullahi who was trying to aid him to flee the country.

In a related development, Police Operatives attached to ‘C’ Division Madalla also arrested two suspects one Abdulhamid Aliyu(27), a.k.a Dogon Soja of Kwankwashe area and Haruna Saleh aged 25yrs of Madalla area of Suleja local government of Niger state for armed robbery.

The two suspects,he said, were members of a four-man gang that invaded a residence near Nitel pole, Madalla on September 28, 2020 at about 0100hrs with locally made gun and sticks when the occupants were asleep.

Abiodun said the suspects searched the entire house and handcuffed the occupants, robbed them of two phones; one infinix and Huawei handsets and also demanded for N100,000 as ransom to release their phones.

He said thehe suspects were later arrested, adding that they confessed to the crime.

Dogon Soja and one other suspect,he added, were initially arrested and charged to court sometimes in 2018, as leaders of the gang that killed one SP Omale of Borno state Police Command at Madalla Motel but later released by the court.

“The two phones were also recovered from them as exhibit while efforts are ongoing to arrest other fleeing members of the gang.

“The suspects will be arraigned in court as soon as investigation is concluded, the PPRO assured.
