The International Federation of Training and Development Organisations (IFTDO), United Kingdom, has appointed Dr. Olasunkade Azeez, President and Chairman of the Governing Council of the Institute of Leadership Coaching and Strategy (ILCS), as a member of its Board Committee on International Conference and Certification, effective January 2026.

The appointment was conveyed in a letter signed by the IFTDO Board Chair, Dr. Patti P. Phillips, who praised Azeez’s standing and contributions to learning, leadership and strategy development in Nigeria and across Africa.

“On behalf of the IFTDO Board of Trustees, we are pleased to confirm your status as a Member of IFTDO. “As a highly respected leader in learning and development, leadership and strategy development in Nigeria and across Africa, your insights and commitment are deeply valued,” the letter read in part.

Dr. Phillips further noted that the Board was particularly grateful to Azeez for sharing his expertise with the Accreditation Committee, describing the planned launch of a robust and globally recognised accreditation programme as critical to IFTDO and the wider human resource development (HRD) community.

“Your leadership will undoubtedly prove invaluable,” she stated. Dr. Azeez brings over two decades of experience in the management and administration of professional bodies in Nigeria and abroad, having contributed significantly to their growth at both national and international levels.

He previously served as an elected member of the Governing Council of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPM), where he worked on several council committees at national, state and grassroots levels for more than 20 years.

He is currently a member of the Board of Fellows of the Institute. Azeez is also a former Vice President of the Nigerian Institute of Training and Development (NITAD), where he supported the leadership with strategic planning initiatives that repositioned the institute and delivered unprecedented growth.

The Membership Committee he chaired earned a Presidential Award in recognition of its achievements. In addition, he is a member of the Board of Trustees, Governing Council and a Fellow of the Change Management Institute International.

He also serves as the pioneer coordinator of the Chartered Institute of Leadership and Governance, Nigeria Chapter.

A seasoned human resource management professional with over three decades of value-adding practice across manufacturing, oil and gas, consulting and aviation sectors, Azeez previously served as Group Head, Human Resources, at Resort International Ltd, a leading indigenous conglomerate with interests in aviation, construction, hospitality and real estate in Nigeria.

Commending his appointment, the IFTDO Board Chair assured Azeez that his contributions would be duly recognised in IFTDO reports, accreditation documentation and international conference briefings.

“We are honoured by your willingness to contribute your expertise and help steward this next chapter of IFTDO’s mission,” she concluded.

The Committee’s terms of reference include reviewing and refining IFTDO’s individual, programmatic and institutional accreditation standards; assessing draft protocols, document checklists, rubrics and reviewer guidelines for clarity and relevance; representing emerging markets and regional training ecosystems in shaping inclusive accreditation pathways; and supporting the establishment of accreditation education programmes for individuals and organisations.

Dr. Azeez is a Fellow of several professional bodies in Nigeria and overseas. IFTDO is a global network connecting leaders in human resources, learning and development, and performance improvement across more than 25 countries. Founded in 1972, the organisation champions innovation, inclusion and impact in workforce development across all sectors.

Its mission is to empower the global human capability community by fostering collaboration, enhancing networking and promoting knowledge sharing, while connecting the world’s top leaders among other functions.
