The Chairman of Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State, Barr. Zacchaeus Dare Michael, has condemned the deadly attacks on Ihale and Olle-Bunu communities, describing them as a grave threat to public safety and communal harmony.

Our Correspondent gathered that Ihale community was attacked by terrorists in the early hours of Friday, while Olle-Bunu came under a similar circumstance later the same day with an undisclosed number of persons reportedly killed and abducted during the twin incidents.

Reacting, Bar.Zacchaeus said the days of insurgents terrorising Ihale, Olle-Bunu and other parts of the local government area are numbered, stressing that the government will not fold its arms in the face of rising insecurity.

He expressed deep sorrow over the loss of innocent lives, including gallant security operatives who paid the supreme price in the course of the attacks.

The council chairman also commiserated with the Olle community, the Omonayi family and other families affected by the tragic incidents.

He assured that the local government, in collaboration with relevant security agencies, has intensified coordinated efforts to secure the safe and unconditional release of all abducted victims.

While decrying the increasing security challenges in the area, he reaffirmed the resolve of the government to stem the tide of insecurity, particularly within the Bunu axis.

The chairman noted that decisive steps are already being taken to strengthen and enhance the local security architecture to prevent a recurrence.

He commended the bravery, dedication and professionalism of security operatives, acknowledging their uncommon courage and sacrifice in the line of duty.

The chairman also urged residents to support ongoing security operations by providing credible, timely and actionable intelligence, emphasizing that community participation remains critical to successful rescue and security efforts.

The Kabba/Bunu Local Government Council, he said, reassures the people of Ihale, Olle-Bunu and the entire local government area that the safety of lives and property remains a top priority, pledging that no stone will be left unturned until peace is fully restored and all criminal elements are brought to justice.
