The National Union of Pensioners under the Contributory Pension Scheme (NUPCPS) has conducted a monitoring visit to selected Pension Fund Administrators (PFAs) in Abuja,FCT, to ensure fairness and transparency in the disbursement of pension arrears to its pensioners.
This is contained in a statement signed by the Chairperson of the NUPCPS Monitoring Committee, Mrs. Tinuola Kosoko-Kukoyi and a copy available to The Reporters in Abuja on Thursday.
According to the statement, the visit, led by the NUPCPS Monitoring Committee, began at the Access/ARM PFA office in Wuse 2, where union officials presented complaints from retirees over non-payment of the first 50 per cent arrears, short payments and alleged hostile treatment by some PFAs.
Mrs.Kosoko-Kukoyi added that during the engagement, a team from the National Pension Commission (PenCom), led by one of its directors, arrived on a similar oversight mission where both teams agreed to collaborate and jointly inspected other PFAs, including Trustfund, Stanbic IBTC, Premium Pension, FCMB and Leadway Assurance.
According to her,the monitoring report, indicates complaints from retirees, largely similar across the PFAs visited, pointing out that PenCom, however, confirmed that NLPC Pension Managers had completed payment of the 50 per cent arrears to all retirees under its administration.
Mrs.Kosoko-Kukoyi disclosed that PenCom also directed Premium Pension to commence immediate payment after the PFA revealed that the ₦32,000 arrears had just been credited.
The commission, she added, further promised to convene a meeting with the chief executives of all PFAs to address the challenges raised and ensure full compliance with pension payment obligations.
Our Correspondent recalls that the national leadership of the NUPCPS had earlier issued an ultimatum to the PFAs to conclude all payments to CPS pensioners by December 24, 2025, or risk action.
This the union became necessary in order to enable this class of senior citizens enjoy their entitlements and celebrate the Christmas as well as other festive mood with ease.
