An author, Mrs Helen Majemite, has called on women to embrace confidence, assert their strengths and step boldly into leadership.
Majemite made the call on Saturday in Lagos at the launch of the book,”A Letter to All Women” and the unveiling of The Women’s Leadership Camp Initiative (TWLCI) in Lagos.
She said the book, written to inspire self-belief and resilience.speaks directly to women who carry silent burdens while holding families, workplaces and communities together, noting that although many women remain strong for others, they are often denied the space to be strong for themselves.
According to her, the publication also targets women rebuilding their lives after emotional, physical or financial setbacks, as well as mothers juggling multiple responsibilities without adequate support and young women who constantly question their worth.
Majemite explained that each chapter draws from her personal struggles and victories, alongside the stories of women who have faced adversity but refused to give up.
“The central message of this book is simple: every woman matters, and her experiences are valid,” she said, adding that when a woman rediscovers herself, the impact extends beyond her, strengthening her family, community and the nation at large.
The author also said the newly launched TWLCI platform is designed to empower low-income women financially and equip them with practical skills to grow their businesses, thereby positioning them to contribute meaningfully to economic development of Nigeria.
Majemite expressed gratitude to her husband, Chief Fred Majemite, her children and extended family for their support throughout the writing process.
In her keynote address, the Chief Executive Officer, International Women For Women, Mrs Thelma Ekiyor-Solanke, represented by Ms Doris Okechukwu, urged women to embrace resilience, describing it as essential to progress.
She said the dual launch was intended to inspire action, noting that the initiative aims to provide women with the confidence and tools needed to assume leadership roles within their communities.
“When women lead, families thrive. Communities grow. Nations change,” she said.
Earlier, the Executive Director, Empathy Driven Women International Initiative (EDWIIV), Dr. Adiya Ngozichukwuka, described the gathering as a celebration of the resilience and beauty of womanhood.
She said A Letter to All Women invites readers on a journey of healing, self-discovery and growth, adding that the author’s reflections underscore the power of faith, hope and determination.
“This book is more than a guide; it is a call to action,” she said, urging women to reclaim their authenticity, rebuild confidence and live with faith and intention.
Also speaking, the Executive Chairman, Growth Mindset and Integrative Lifestyle Academy, Dr Ify Nwakwesi, encouraged women to appreciate themselves and engage in regular physical exercise to enhance overall wellbeing.
Our Correspondent reports that the event featured a panel session on women, leadership and resilience.
One of the panelists, Dr Chinyere Almona, who noted that women consistently demonstrate vision and strength in both domestic and professional spaces, urged them to cultivate self-awareness rather than compare themselves with others.
A wellness expert, Dr Patrick Ijewere, highlighted women’s critical role in shaping future generations and called for greater societal respect, encouraging successful women to collaborate and support one another.
The Vice President, Development and Regional Set (4lYF Project Lead), Mrs. Folusho Gbadamosi, described women as natural influencers who deserve greater visibility, but advised them to manage differences constructively to strengthen unity.
The moderator at the occasion,Dr Yemisi Peters, urged women to remain authentic and deepen collaboration for collective progress.
Dignitaries at the event include the President of Maritime Arbitrators of Nigeria, Chief Jean Anishere (SAN); a former General Manager of the Nigerian Ports Authority, Mrs .Nana Yakubu; Hajia Bola Muse; Mr Emuobonuvie Majemite; and other guests from Nigeria and the diaspora.
