Kogi State Governor, His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has paid an emotional condolence visit to the families of victims of the tragic accident that claimed six lives and left several others injured on Wednesday along the Lokoja–Okene road.

The victims were returning home after participating in the 2025 International Day of Persons with Disabilities celebration, hosted earlier at the Government House, Lokoja, when the devastating crash occurred.

Describing the tragedy as “a deeply painful moment for the entire state,” Governor Ododo said the deceased were patriotic citizens who honoured an invitation to celebrate inclusion, dignity, and equal opportunity. Their sudden passing, he said, represents a significant loss not only to their families but to Kogi State as a whole.

During his visit, the Governor met privately with each bereaved family, offering heartfelt prayers, words of comfort, and personal encouragement. He assured them of the Government’s unwavering and continuous support, both during this period of grief and beyond.

He further reiterated his commitment to the full recovery of the injured, who are currently receiving treatment in various health facilities across the state. Governor Ododo directed the Ministry of Health and all relevant emergency agencies to remain in close contact with the victims’ families to ensure that medical care, welfare needs, and psychosocial support are provided without delay.

The Governor also called on the people of Kogi State to join in prayer for the peaceful repose of the departed souls and for the speedy recovery of those injured.
