As part of activities marking the 70th Anniversary of Women in Policing in Nigeria, the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 7 Headquarters, Abuja, AIG Victor Olaiya, hosted retired female police officers to a warm, inspiring, and interactive session with serving women personnel.
The Spokesperson for Zone 7, ASP Halima Mohammed, said the event aligns with the vision of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Olukayode Adeolu Egbetokun, whose strategic leadership continues to advance gender inclusion, mentorship, professional development, and recognition of women’s contributions to the Nigeria Police Force.
Retired senior officers,Chief Superintendent of Police, CSP Margaret Odiase, and Superintendent of Police, SP Naomi Isyiaku,honoured the invitation and spent quality time with the women of the zone. They shared heartfelt encouragement rooted in their years of experience, offering practical guidance on career growth, discipline, emotional intelligence, and balancing work with family responsibilities.
According to ASP Mohammed, their testimonies of resilience, courage, and dedication deeply inspired the younger officers, reinforcing the legacy and strength of Nigerian women police officers who, for 70 years, have made significant contributions to national security, peacekeeping, community policing, and administrative excellence.
Represented by the ACP in charge of Administration, Labong Fidelia, the AIG expressed profound appreciation to the retired officers for their continued commitment to the growth of the Force. She noted that the engagement reflects the leadership’s resolve, under the IGP, to honour pioneering women officers while nurturing a motivated and professionally empowered generation of serving women personnel.
Our Correspondent reports that the interactive session is one of several activities lined up by NPF Zone 7 to commemorate this historic milestone, celebrating seven decades of excellence, sacrifice, and remarkable achievement by women in policing across Nigeria.
The Zone reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to supporting women in policing and fostering a safe, inclusive, and professionally driven environment across the FCT and Niger State Police Commands.
