The Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has mourned the passing of the first executive chairman of Adavi Local Government Area, Ozigi Asema Maiyaki, who died in the early hours of Wednesday at his residence in Ogaminana.

In a condolence message issued through his Special Adviser on Media, Hon. Ismaila Isah, the Governor described the news of Adayi Ozigi Asema’s death as a profound shock.

He highlighted the late chairman’s significant contributions to community development and his role in strengthening unity within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adavi Local Government Area.

“I recall that Adayi Ozigi Asema was among the first political leaders I consulted in the build-up to the 2023 governorship election.

His wise counsel and unwavering support were instrumental to our victory, especially in Adavi Local Government.

His support will be dearly missed, even as we thank Almighty Allah for his leadership and service to our people during his lifetime,” Governor Ododo stated.

The Governor also lauded the late pioneer chairman’s legacy, describing him as a pacesetter whose leadership helped chart the course of development in Adavi, particularly in infrastructure and human empowerment.

He prayed for the peaceful repose of the deceased and urged his family, as well as the entire Adavi community, to take solace in the enduring legacy he leaves behind.

Ozigi Asema Maiyaki served as the first elected chairman of Adavi Local Government Area under the platform of the National Republican Convention (NRC) from 1991 to 1993 and remained politically active until his death at the age of 74 on Wednesday.
