The Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has reaffirmed his administration’s determination to harness the full economic potential of the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) Gas Pipeline Project for the benefit of the state and Nigeria at large.

The governor made this known at the AKK Business Development Roadshow held at the Banquet Hall of the Government House, Lokoja.

The event, themed “Accelerating Domestic Gas Utilisation and Driving the CNG Revolution along the AKK Corridor,” brought together government officials, investors, and industry experts.

Governor Ododo described Kogi as a land uniquely positioned for economic growth and development.

“Kogi State is a confluence of pipelines, prosperity, and opportunities

“Our people entrusted us with their mandate, and we must make it work for them. I am delighted that this milestone is unfolding during our tenure.

“We will continue to consult widely to ensure that our people live in happiness and that Kogi maximises every advantage available to it.”the governor declared.

Emphasizing the transformative potential of the AKK project, the governor added:
“Today’s gathering marks a defining moment in our journey toward economic transformation, industrial expansion, and sustainable development.

“We are united by a shared purpose,to unlock the immense potential of the AKK Gas Pipeline and explore the vast investment and innovation opportunities it brings to Kogi State and the nation.”

Contributing, the Executive Vice President, PI CNG, Mr. Olalekan Ogunleye, noted with delight that the private sector had begun responding positively to the opportunities emerging along the corridor.
“As we approach the final stages of the Abuja–Ajaokuta–Kaduna–Kano Pipeline Project, it is important that we come together, share experiences, and listen to investors,” he said.

Ogunleye added that Kogi occupies a prime position in the scheme of the project.
“Kogi State is excellently positioned to take full advantage of this pipeline. No major pipeline project is complete without the Nigerian gas pipeline terminating in Ajaokuta.”

The $2.8 billion AKK pipeline is now nearing completion, with 83.05 per cent of the mainline finalized as of July 2025.

Upon completion, the project is expected to deliver up to 2.2 billion standard cubic feet of gas per day, boosting industrial activity and electricity generation in Abuja, Kaduna, Kano, and surrounding states.
