How Dangote Cement Transport Deepens Community Engagement, Champions Sustainability in Kogi

The 2025 Sustainability Week at Dangote Cement Transport (DCT), Obajana, continued in grand style with a lecture and award ceremony that reinforced the company’s commitment to sustainability, education, and community development.

Speaking at the event, the Divisional Director of Transport, Obajana, Col. Hemant Rana (Rtd),represented by Mr. Charles Theophilus, Head of PTI,commended the organizers and participants for promoting sustainability through inclusive community engagement.

He described sustainable growth as a shared vision between Dangote Cement and its host communities.

Guest speakers from the Kogi State Ministry of Commerce and Industry enlightened participants on how sustainable practices enhance profitability, resilience, and positive community impact.

A major highlight was the Inter-Schools Spelling Bee and Quiz Competition, which featured four public and six private schools from the four host communities. Excellent Future Leaders International School won the Quiz Competition, while Golden Vessels Academy, Obajana, emerged winner of the Spelling Bee Contest.

Trophies and prizes were presented by the Divisional Director, represented by Mr. Abdullahi Aliyu, Head of Operations, in recognition of the students’ brilliance and teamwork.

Mr. Peter Agba, Head of Human Asset Management, commended the participating schools and reaffirmed the company’s commitment to bringing smiles to its host communities.

The event also featured special recognition awards for outstanding service and volunteerism within the division. Mr. Emmanuel Yashim and Mrs. Oluwasola John received the Outstanding Male and Female Volunteer of the Year (2024–2025) awards, respectively, while Mr. Theophilus received a Meritorious Service Award for exemplary leadership.

In his closing remarks, Mr. Eseyin Temitope James, Acting Sustainability Lead, appreciated the management of the Dangote Group for its continuous support, describing the celebration as a reflection of the company’s mission to empower people, protect the environment, and promote lasting partnerships.
