The Acting President of the Kogi Unity Movement (KUM), Alhaji Sanni Musa, has urged members to strengthen their commitment and contributions toward advancing the movement’s goals and promoting the overall development of Kogi State.
Speaking during the group’s monthly meeting in Lokoja on Tuesday, Musa said KUM was founded with a vision to foster unity among the diverse ethnic groups in the state and drive sustainable progress through community-led initiatives.
He stressed that the movement’s success depended largely on the dedication and positive participation of its members.
According to him, although some members may have reservations about certain aspects of the movement’s activities, KUM remains resolute in pursuing its objectives and creating success stories that will uplift communities across the state.
He announced that plans had reached an advanced stage to commence the KUM Skills Acquisition Training Centre at Zango, on the outskirts of Lokoja, as part of efforts to empower residents and boost the state’s economy.
The Acting President explained that the centre, which is affiliated with the National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB), would train youths in various trades such as fisheries, poultry, leatherwork, fashion design, pastry making, and confectionery.
Musa said the initiative would not only equip participants with practical skills but also position them as job creators and contributors to Kogi’s economic growth, thereby reducing unemployment and dependence on government jobs.
He noted that a vibrant skills development culture would stimulate entrepreneurship, expand local production, and enhance the state’s revenue base, especially in the small and medium enterprise sector.
While commending members for their unwavering support, Musa called for renewed dedication and teamwork, emphasizing that KUM’s vision of unity and economic empowerment could only be realized through collective effort and steadfast commitment to the state’s progress.
