In a significant stride toward advancing Nigeria’s technological education and innovation ecosystem, the Chairman of MOMAS Group, Engr. (Dr.) Kola Balogun, has inspected the newly commissioned Kola Balogun College of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Engineering (KBCOAIDE) at Summit University, Offa (SUN Offa), Kwara State.

The state-of-the-art facility, donated by the MOMAS Group Chairman, represents a groundbreaking investment in Artificial Intelligence (AI), Drone Technology, and STEM education, poised to transform Nigeria’s capacity for digital innovation and self-reliance.

Engr. (Dr.) Balogun, accompanied by Air Vice Marshal AbdulGaniyu Olabisi (Rtd), a defence technology expert, and dignitaries from One Innovation Hub (ONEIH), Offa, were received by the University’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abiodun Musa Aibinu, alongside other principal officers, Deans, and Heads of Departments.

The inspection underscored the growing partnership between MOMAS Group and Summit University aimed at nurturing youth talent in emerging technologies.

The collaboration, officials say, will position the university as one of Nigeria’s foremost hubs for applied technological research and digital engineering.

The Kola Balogun College of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Engineering, named in honour of its benefactor, houses advanced drone simulation rooms, assembly bays, digital fabrication laboratories, and a Printed Circuit Board (PCB) production unit.

These facilities, according to the management, reflect Nigeria’s determination to strengthen its technological independence.

Speaking during the inspection, Engr. (Dr.) Balogun expressed delight with the progress of work, stating:

“This college represents our unwavering commitment to empowering Nigerian youth with the skills to solve tomorrow’s challenges in energy, security, and drone technology. It is about building human capacity for a sustainable future,”he said.

AVM Olabisi (rtd) commended the initiative, describing it as a crucial step toward integrating drone technology into higher education for national security, agriculture, and disaster management applications.

MOMAS Group, a leading indigenous conglomerate with interests in energy solutions and defence manufacturing, has been instrumental in driving technological advancement at Summit University.

Through its subsidiaries,MEMCOL and EPAIL,the company has organised intensive drone pilot training for university lecturers and members of the host community.

Recently, ten specialists in PCB production graduated from the MOMAS training centre.

The Vice-Chancellor of the university,Professor Abiodun Musa Aibinu, described the initiative as transformational.

“MOMAS Group’s vision has significantly boosted our capacity to produce world-class innovators and inventors. With our new specialisation in drone technology, Summit University will soon produce certified drone pilots through degree and certification programmes. This collaboration is truly a game-changer for higher education in Nigeria,”he said.

He added that once fully completed, the college would make Summit University a national beacon of innovation in Unmanned Aerial and Ground Vehicle technology, Artificial Intelligence, and Digital Engineering.

Professor Aibinu also applauded Engr. (Dr.) Balogun for his continuous partnership through the ONEIH–Kola Balogun Technology Centre (OKBTC), stressing that the Offa community stands to become a major innovation hub in Nigeria.

“We are not just building a college; we are building Nigeria’s future,” Engr. (Dr.) Balogun declared.

The Vice-Chancellor urged parents and guardians to seize the opportunity by enrolling their wards in the University’s new technology-driven programmes, supported by scholarship schemes from philanthropists and the Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria, proprietors of the institution.

He reiterated that the Department of Information and Communication Engineering continues to distinguish itself as Nigeria’s emerging centre for Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) technology and digital innovation.
